  It is very essential to understand the place value system in decimal just as it is essential in whole numbers.
Fortunately it is relatively simple to remember and comprehend since it follow a simple pattern. Each value is a one "1" followed by zeros "0" which increase by 1 zero as we move to a new position. {eg. (whole numbers 1,10,100,1000) (decimals 1/10, 1/100, 1/1000 )}.
