The Number Line (as shown above) can be used to show the subtraction of two numbers.
To subtract 3 from 10 , begin at 0 and draw an arrow 10 units long, moving to the right, which represents 10.  From the tip of the arrow draw (subtract) another arrow 3 units long moving left. The tip of this second arrow now points the result which is 7.

Read the question carefully and determine that the operation or action requires a subtraction to be done. Determine the numbers to be added and simply find the total.
