Just like today, there were many ancient units of measurement varying in
size. This is important since we need
to use appropriate units, suitable for the different items we need to
measure.
For example we may use cups to measure water
for boiling rice, while it would be more suitable to use gallons for
measuring the water we store in a barrel or tank.
When working with a variety of units, we must be able to convert from one
unit to a next (eg. 2 pints = 1 quart). |
